Dialogue
实境对话👆 Tap any line to hear it 点一下句子听发音
Boss, how much are these tomatoes per jin?
Forty a jin. They're very fresh. They just arrived this morning.
That's a bit expensive. Could you give me a better price?
How many jin do you want? Buy more, and I'll charge you thirty-eight.
I'll take two jin. Thirty-five a jin, okay?
Thirty-five is too little. Thirty-eight. I can't go any lower.
OK, thirty-eight it is. And a bunch of greens too.
OK, let me weigh it. Tomatoes are seventy-six, the greens are twenty. That's ninety-six in total.
Could you make it ninety-five?
All right, ninety-five for you, and I'll throw in a little green onion.
Thank you, boss! Here's one hundred.
Here's five back. Take care, and come again!
Key points
🧑🏫 Teacher guide

Story
情境短文👆 Tap any line to hear it 点一下句子听发音
On Saturday morning, Mary wants to cook dinner for a friend, so she goes to the traditional market near her home to buy vegetables.
The market is full of people. The vendors sell vegetables while chatting loudly with the customers.
Mary walks up to a vegetable stall. The tomatoes are red and big, so she asks the vendor how much they are per jin.
The vendor says forty a jin, but Mary thinks it's a bit expensive, so she asks him to give her a better price.
The vendor says it's cheaper if you buy more, so Mary buys two jin. She offers thirty-five a jin, the vendor says thirty-eight, and in the end it's thirty-eight.
Next, she also asks for a bunch of greens, twenty. After weighing, the vendor says the tomatoes are seventy-six, and ninety-six in total.
Mary asks with a smile: Could you make it ninety-five? The vendor thinks for a moment, says all right, and even gives her a little green onion for free.
Mary pays one hundred, the vendor gives her five back in change, and they both laugh.
Carrying a full bag of fresh vegetables, she happily walks out of the market.
She feels that buying vegetables at the market, chatting and bargaining at the same time, is really fun.
Key points
🧑🏫 Teacher guide

🧑🏫 Teacher guide
